The University of Tennessee Medical Center Launches App for Patients
The medical center is the first in Tennessee to launch a full-featured, mobile wayfinding platform.
Knoxville, Tenn. (May 6, 2020) – The University of Tennessee Medical Center has launched UTMC Way, a new mobile app that provides turn by turn directions to any destination on the medical center’s main campus. Interactive 3D maps guide patients to doctors’ offices, patient care floors, on-site dining options, pharmacy, nearby restrooms, and other points of interest. UT Medical Center is the first in Tennessee to launch a full-featured, mobile wayfinding platform.
“As the region’s academic medical center, innovation is one of our six values. We strive to provide the best healthcare experience possible for our patients,” said Michael Saad, vice president and Chief Information Officer at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. “Through the use of the UTMC Way app, patients and their families can now navigate our campus using the latest wayfinding technology right on their phones. This will allow patients to pinpoint exactly where they parked, navigate to their appointment and then safely back to their vehicle all while using turn-by-turn directions.”
The mobile platform developed by Atlanta-based Gozio Health, provides maps and parking reminders to the hospital, medical office buildings and three parking garages – a total of 2.5 million square feet across the medical center.. In addition to wayfinding, the app features advanced capabilities that improve patient experience and access to care. Patients are able to search physician profiles, find UT Urgent Care locations, access their patient portal, refill prescriptions, search events and careers, and more.”
“We are delighted that our technology will help UTMC patients, visitors and staff during these challenging times,” said Joshua Titus, CEO and founder of Gozio Health. “Gozio’s extensible mobile platform is essential to a health system’s crisis response. Our hospital partners can instantly pivot their mobile apps to meet the critical needs of their communities and enable virtual visits, triage and navigation to testing sites or points of care”.
