Recently, KLAS Research released the Patient Engagement Ecosystem Report for 2023. The report is described as, "an update to KLAS’ 2021 report and shows which vendors report the broadest capability sets, which vendors have made the most progress over the last two years, and how the industry as a whole has matured. For reader ease, links to relevant online content are provided where applicable. Note that the data in this study is based primarily on vendor-reported information, accompanied by a limited amount of KLAS performance data."
While the information on vendors is very useful and interesting, there is another piece to it. KLAS lays out both the KLAS Patient Engagement platform, which is a set of key capabilities they believe should be offered by a single vendor to be effective. The report also lays out a longer list of features across the patient journey that key to engaging patients. This list provides a very good overview for anyone trying to map their patient journey. It is still critical to gather input from patients, caregivers, and staff, but this is a good place to start.
